NASAR Driver Bill Lester returns
as the special guest!!!
 Philadelphia, PA, July 23, 2008 -- Ladies and gentleman start your engines and race to The Franklin for Race Car Day 2008! On Wednesday, July 30th from 11:00am until 8:00 pm, The Franklin, in partnership with Pocono Raceway & WXTU-FM presents an action- packed day of special activities celebrating the science behind race cars at the fourth annual Race Car Day!
Back by popular demand is veteran NASCAR driver, Bill Lester! His past rides range from NASCAR Craftsman Trucks to the Sprint Cup Series. Lester will be available to meet with fans, sign autographs and give presentations on his racing at 2:30pm and again at 5:30pm in Franklin Theater.
Making his second appearance at RaceCar Day will be 14 year-old junior drag racer, Dimetrious Morris, from Yeadon, PA. Dimetrious’ passion for racing began when he was just five years old. These days, he is winning races in his junior dragster at the Atco Raceway in New Jersey. Also participating again this year is another accomplished young racer sensation, Bret Guzik!
Various race cars from the Pocono Raceway (Pace Car), SMS Motorsports (Sprint Car), Drexel University Formula SAE Team, Art Seeger Racing (Sprint Cup Car), and Monster Racing Excitement/Dover International Speedway (Lightning McQueen Car – replica of the star of Disney Pixar’s “Cars”) will line the streets outside of The Franklin and along Winter Street in Center City Philadelphia! Representatives from each raceway will be on hand to meet with visitors and answer their racing questions as they show off their track cars.
Two outstanding prizes this year offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for the lucky winners: the first is a chance to become an Honorary Pit Crew Member at the ARCA Remax Series at Pocono Raceway in August (16 years & older), and Pocono Raceway is giving away the ultimate prize – the chance to be the ARCA Honorary Starter! The winner (age 6-16 and must be present to win) will get to wave the green flag and be on Victory Lane to greet the drivers at the start of the ARCA Race 2008 on Saturday, August 2nd! Additional prizes include: four Terrace Club tickets to Saturday’s ARCA Race 2008 and Sunday’s NASCAR Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500, both at Pocono Raceway.
Visitors can make a pit stop inside The Franklin to make your own race car and take part in other race car activities and workshops scheduled throughout the day. A special NASCAR IMAX show will run throughout the day in the Tuttleman IMAX Theater with special evening showings of Disney Pixar’s animated movie, “Cars” in Franklin Theater.
