Good Sam / Camping World Sponsor NASCAR Races at Pocono
Good Sam – a sister company to series title sponsor Camping World – will sponsor 625 miles of NASCAR action at Pocono Raceway this weekend. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event will be titled the Good Sam RV Insurance 500 and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event will be titled the Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service 125.“We are proud to partner with the Pocono Raceway for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup races,” said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO of Camping World & Good Sam. “This is a great opportunity to sponsor the race weekend and to expose race goers to our broad selection of camping and tailgating products, which will be available at the Raceway at our on-site Camping World stores.” Good Sam is world’s largest RV owners community.
For Johnny Sauter, A Black Flag Has Turned Into A Black Cloud
Four points. That is all that stands between NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings leader Johnny Sauter and Austin Dillon.
Three finishes outside the top-20 in the last five races has dwindled Sauter’s solid lead in the standings:
Sauter has held the top spot for eight of the 13 race weeks.
Busch, Harvick Battle It Out At Pocono; Martin Returns
It is no secret that Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are not the best of friends.
While they keep their main focus on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship both of are battling for another title – 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owner Championship.
Chances are that battle will heat up at Pocono.
Harvick will return to competition in the No. 2 Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet for the first time since Dover and Busch will climb back behind the wheel of the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota after a three-week hiatus.
Four races ago Busch held a commanding 56-point lead over Harvick in the owner’s standings, but that has shrunk to just 33 points following Indy.
Mark Martin makes his return to the series at Pocono for Turner Motorsports. It will be his first start in the series since 2007. Martin has seven victories in 23 starts. Also, it will be the first time he has driven a Chevrolet in Truck Series competition.
ThorSport Set To Break Roush’s Record at Pocono
ThorSport Racing already held the title has the longest running active team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage, but after this weekend the Sandusky, Ohio based team will break the record for the most starts by one team in series history.
Saturday’s race at Pocono will mark the team’s 354th Truck Series race with at least one entry in the field, eclipsing Roush Fenway’s current record of 353.
Matt Crafton has been behind the wheel of a ThorSport racing entry for 235 of those starts with Sauter competing in 64 of them.
