We have long said we have the best fans in motorsports at Pocono Raceway and we will occasionally utilize this space to share their stories in our Fan Spotlight.
NAME: Ray
HOMETOWN: Old Forge, Pa.
FAMILY, KIDS & PETS: Wife and two children: 10 and 7
FAVORITE DRIVER: Kurt Busch
MOST MEMORABLE TRACK STORY: Meeting a friend from Miami, Fla. to attend his first short-track race at Bristol for the Irwin Tools night race
HOW MANY RACES HAVE YOU BEEN TO: 50+
WHEN/HOW/WHY DID YOU GET INTERESTED IN RACING: My father-in-law and some friends enjoyed racing and I gave it a shot back in 2007. I never looked back!
ADVICE FOR POCONO RACEWAY FANS: Come early and plan to stay late. In addition to the race and track activities, tailgating at Pocono is the best of any track I’ve been to. Typically, the race is over with a lot of daylight so instead of fighting the traffic, grill some food and play some games with friends to keep the fun going after an awesome race weekend!
FIRST JOB/FIRST CAR: McDonald’s and a Pontiac Grand Am
WHAT DRIVER WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET AND WHY: I don’t get star struck so I don’t have a burning desire to meet any single driver. The drivers are the face of the team, but I would be more interested in meeting the hero’s back in the shop who work long, hard hours to help keep the drivers successful.
