Question: What is your funniest story at Pocono Raceway?
Answer: This occurred during the mid 1980’s and involves the late Tim Richmond. During driver introductions a young fan was yelling to get the attention of the drivers. Richmond picked this fan up and took him to meet the drivers up close. The track announcer asked the you fan who his favorite driver was, to which the fan said “Richard Petty. Richmond, playfully picked the young fan up and pretended to put him back over the retaining wall (he did not). All drivers enjoyed this and, more than likely, made a lifetime fan of this young fellow.
Question: When/How and why did you get interested in racing?
Answer: My father instilled the racing bug in me back in 1971 when he took me to my first race at Pocono, the Schaefer 500. I ran around and chased the drivers for their autographs on the race program, which I still have to this day. This year will be my 47th straight season attending the events at Pocono Raceway. I have never missed a 400/500 mile race at Pocono.
Question: What is some advice you would like to give possible first time Pocono Raceway fans?
Answer: Arrive early and take in all you can. Cheer your favorite driver and applaud the winner for the job he has accomplished.
Question: What driver would you like to one day meet and why?
Answer: I wish I could meet all the drivers and congratulate them for the skill they have.
Question: What is one cool fact or talent about yourself you would like to share?
Answer: One cool fact I have (according to my wife) is I remember a lot of facts concerning Pocono Raceway races. One talent I have is bowling-3 perfect games.
