We have long said we have the best fans in motorsports at Pocono Raceway. Whether you have been coming to races for years or 2019 was your first time, we want to hear from you!
This week we hear from one of our great fans, William from Albrightsville, PA Enjoy!
Name: William Parkin
Hometown: Albrightsville, PA
Occupation: Retired
Family: My grandson, Brayden, went to his first race at six months old. Now six years old he has not missed a race since. Brayden is a member of the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital Kids Club at Pocono Raceway, which he enjoys immensely. One time he got to push Denny Hamlin’s car out on the track with the pit crew, who all signed his hat. What a thrill for him.
Question: How many times have you visited Pocono Raceway?
Answer: Too many to count!
Question: What is your most memorable story at Pocono Raceway?
Answer: Seeing a man with a sign saying Harry Gant autographs here. Turns out, it was Harry Gant himself holding the sign!
Question: When, how, and why did you get interested in racing?
Answer: My uncle used to fix cars at Langhorne Speedway and I would go with him to the track on the weekends. I started going when I was around eight years old.
Question: What is some advice you would like to give a possible first time Pocono Raceway fan?
Answer: Buy Pit/Paddock Passes, you can enjoy the full experience of seeing the cars and the drivers up close.
Question: What driver would you like to one day meet and why?
Answer: Richard Petty, he is my all-time hero. Also, Brad Keselowski, I admire the work he does for our veterans and love the way he takes the American Flag after he wins a race.
