We draw fans from all over the world at Pocono Raceway because of our geographic location and proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. International racing fans tend to call Pocono Raceway their ‘home’ NASCAR track. We have been fortunate enough to hosts guests from at least 30 different counties. We will feature a fan or fans from all over the world and share their stories with you in this blog every other week. If you would like to be a featured in our International Fan Blog please email Kevin at kteel@poconoraceway.com.
International Blog Featuring Trent Part 2 (Post-Event): Read Here
Part 1: (Pre-Event)
Name: Trent B.
Country: Australia.
Occupation: Salesman in an electrical supplies store.
Family, Kids, Pets: I’ll be traveling with my wife Amanda and our two daughters, we’re leaving the two Labradors at home.
Question: What was the first vehicle you owned?
Answer: 1986 – Ford XF Falcon, a popular family sedan here in Australia, mine was the ‘sports’ model.
Question: How did you become interested in racing?
Answer: The media coverage played a big part in getting me interested despite most races being at 5 A.M. on a Monday morning. But NASCAR racing is about one winner, it’s great to see the emotion of the winning driver and crew when they win, every win means so much to them. Hold your head high if you came close to winning but there’s only one parking spot in victory lane.
Question: Who is your favorite driver and why?
Answer: #18 Kyle Busch. We have been watching him since before his championship in 2015. He is a versatile driver, comfortable on all track types and he is very consistent. We also watch Kyle & Samantha’s social media channels and love seeing little Brexton grow up.
Question: Have you ever been to Pocono Raceway in the past?
Answer: No, we haven’t been to North America before.
Question: Why did you choose to come to Pocono Raceway?
Answer: Pocono is the only NASCAR weekend that lines up with our schedule. We’re really excited it is Pocono as we are renting an RV in New Jersey and driving to the track. I’m sure we’ll have the ultimate NASCAR experience by camping infield at Pocono. We’re super excited.
Question: How long have you been planning this trip?
Answer: Our trip has been in the planning for the last 15 months.
Question: Are you doing anything else in the United States during your stay?
Answer: This is a once in a lifetime holiday for us so we’re visiting the Los Angeles landmarks and theme parks. Next we are heading south to San Diego and Sea World. We will then also be making a quick stop over at Las Vegas & The Grand Canyon. We then head North and meet some friends in Winnipeg MB, Canada, before road tripping to Minneapolis. Washington DC and New York are also on the list before Pocono, then we fly home again.
Question: What are you most excited for about race weekend?
Answer: I’m excited about meeting and interacting with the NASCAR community. The racing will be great, but I’m sure the fans camping around us will be better!! If you see the Aussie flag, please come say G’day!
