Long Pond, Pa (September 1, 2019) – The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series schedule has been announced and it will not include a race at Pocono Raceway next summer. Below is an official statement from Pocono Raceway’s CEO, Nick Igdalsky. No further comment will be made by Pocono Raceway at this time.
Official Statement from Pocono Raceway’s CEO, Nick Igdalsky:
“It is with great disappointment for Pocono Raceway to confirm we will not be on the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series schedule. Our partnership with the premier open wheel series in the United States has concluded for now. It has been a pleasure to work with INDYCAR representatives during this honest and candid negotiation.
“On behalf of the entire Pocono Raceway family, it has been a joy getting to know the teams and partners, many of whom have become dear friends. Thank you to ABC Supply Co., Inc., who have supported our INDYCAR events since 2014. Thank you to all the fans that have supported Pocono over the years. We share in the disappointment of thousands who also dreamed of future open wheel races at ‘The Tricky Triangle.’ A sincere thank you to Mario Andretti, for his years of passionate support.
“And finally, we thank all the drivers who dazzled us with their talent and heroics, as well as those drivers who spoke in support of Pocono during their recent visit. We sincerely wish INDYCAR and their competitors best of luck with the remainder of the 2019 season and beyond.”

Loved going to this event with my dad and we are honestly trading Nascar for Indycar lately. Hopeful for 2021

Sad sad day. IndyCar needs more high speed tracks. Enjoyed going for years, even back when it was the Schaefer 500.

IndyCar made a huge mistake dropping Pocono. Pocono should have been kept on the schedule even if Richmond was added.

Please be assured IndyCar management does NOT reflect the preferences of a large portion of its fan base. Their decision to drop Pocono shows utter contempt for many of us. We are disappointed and angry, and we will not be shy about expressing our feelings.
We bought tickets, attended, and LOVED our experiences there. Should IndyCar management decide to return, hopefully sooner rather than later, please be assured we will happily buy tickets and attend.
Thank you for your effort and enthusiasm. My group of fans aggressively disagree with this IndyCar decision.
It seems profoundly foolish.

Sorry to hear the news about next year. Hope the track will have another race of some kind mabey the sports cars with the vintage cars. Thank you for all the race weekends and the airshow!!!

It is totally ridiculous for IndyCars to be racing at Richmond’s 3/4 mile track next year and not racing at Pocono. Pocono is a fast track and drivers have to adapt to it.

Any chance IMSA would be interested in a weekend?
In reference to IndyCar attendance, they could have taken a page from minor league baseball and offered a hat or t-shirt to the children. Bobby Rahal or other owners could have put their name on the item. Got to think out of the box.

Indy cars + windscreens – Pocono = sissies!!! Makes you wonder if there’s going to be an Indy 500 in the future if the powers that be deem IMS unsafe. Guess you could always add another NASCAR race. Often unsafe tracks are the result of some drivers inability to make intelligent decisions. Yeah, I’m pissed!!!
