LONG POND, Pa. (May 30, 2016) – In an effort to ensure a safe and timely entrance and exit for all fans, drivers and race teams members, Pocono Raceway has partnered with Solutions Event Services for parking assistance during its race weekends.
Solutions Events Services, a national industry leader, specializes in large events, including air shows, golf tournaments and sporting events.
“We are always looking to safely improve our fans experience at Pocono Raceway,” said Pocono Raceway President & CEO Brandon Igdalsky. “This is another way we can do that. We know that no one wants to sit in traffic and we are doing all we can to speed up the exit process.”
Solutions Events Services will utilize multiple lanes to enter and exit the racetrack and cone off lanes to limit when fans are forced to merge.
In addition, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is finalizing plans on a widening project of Route 115 that they hope will begin later this year or early next, a several-year project between Long Pond Road and Route 903 in Tunkhannock Township.
“The Pennsylvania State Police do a tremendous job when our fans reach Route 115,” said Igdalsky. “With the expertise of Solutions, we are confident we can speed up the exit process.”
In 2015, the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened Exit 87, an E-Z Pass Only Interchange connecting the Northeastern Extension (I-476) to State Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County which alleviated some traffic problems.
The Pennsylvania State Police also announced that traffic patterns will be altered on Sunday, June 5. According to the news release:
–Prior to the race, Route 115 from Interstate 80 to the raceway will be converted to two lanes and will be one way southbound. This conversion will be put into effect at approximately 8 a.m. and continue until all traffic has entered the track grounds.
–Following the race, Route 115 from the raceway to Interstate 80 will be converted to two lanes and will be one way northbound, until the raceway parking lots are cleared. Traffic will not be allowed to travel south on Route 115 south of Interstate 80. This conversion will take place with 25 laps remaining in the race.
–Stoney Hollow Road has been designated a no parking and tow away zone from Long Pond Road to the Interstate 80 overpass. It will be properly posted and enforced. Any vehicle in violation will be removed at the owner’s expense.
–Following the race, the Route 80 eastbound off-ramp at the Blakeslee exit (Exit 284) will be closed to traffic.
Traffic coming south to the race in the two lanes of Route 115 will be required to enter specific parking areas. Motorists should take note of signs posted along Route 115 and travel in the appropriate traffic lanes for their desired parking area.
Likewise, outbound traffic traveling north will face similar signs with lane restrictions for Interstate 80 and Route 115 access.
Pocono Raceway will host seven national motorsports events during the 2016 racing season, including the Pocono Green 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race for the inaugural time on June 4. The Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race is set for June 5, the Pennsylvania 400 NSCS race on July 31 and the ABC Supply 500 Verizon IndyCar Series race on August 21. The Pocono Mountains 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck race is scheduled for July 30 and two ARCA Series Presented by Menards races with General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 on June 3 and the ModSpace 150 on July 29 offered as well.
